Govt To Increase Cocoa Price to ¢3.6k Per Bag

The government has announced a 12.27% increase in the price of cocoa, less than two months after a raise.
According to the Minister for Finance, cocoa will witness an increase of ¢3,625 per bag or GHS58,000 per tonne.
“This represents an increase of about GHS400 per bag, equivalent to a 12.27% rise over the price announced in August,” he wrote in a Facebook post.
This will take effect on Friday, 3rd October 2025
The Minister noted that the margins, fees, and rates to all other stakeholders, including COCOBOD, remain unchanged.
Cocoa price was last increased in August 2025 from GH¢49,600 per tonne to GH¢51,660 per tonne, representing GH¢3,228.75 per bag of 64-kilogramme gross weight of cocoa.
Ato Forson further affirmed the COCOBOD’s commitment to implementing interventions to support cocoa production and improve the welfare of cocoa farmers.
“In particular, COCOBOD will intensify the supply of free cocoa fertilisers (liquid and granular), free insecticides, free spraying machines, free fungicides, and free flower inducers. COCOBOD remains on track to implement the new Tertiary Education Scholarship Scheme for children of cocoa farmers in the 2026/27 academic year.”
