Chairman Wontumi Orders Removal Of Alan Branded Items From Party Offices

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has issued an order to have all materials branded in the name and pictures of Alan Kyerematen discarded from all the party offices.

This was contained in a Memo to Constituency Chairmen in the region on Monday, September 25, the same day Alan announced his defection.

According to Chairman Wontumi, it is “fair” that the items are removed with “immediate effect”.

“In view of Hon Alan Kyerematen’s resignation from the party, all his posters, banners, flyers and paraphernalia at our party offices in all the constituencies must be removed with immediate effect,” a part of the notice read.

While announcing the forfeiture of his membership in the NPP at a press conference on September 25, Alan chronicled incidents of attacks and hostility his supporters have endured both in the past and present.

He alleged that his supporters are treated with “disdain” and as “outcasts” as a result of their association with him and noted that his continued stay in the party would only create further tension and division.

“Indeed the divisive and hostile attacks on my person and my supporters remained for several years thereafter, and have continued to date. It is common knowledge that any Party member who is associated directly or indirectly with Alan is treated with disdain and considered an outcast.”

After withdrawing from the flagbearership race of the NPP last month, Alan plans to pursue his presidential ambition as an Independent Candidate.

As such, he has begun a new movement to champion his policies.
