Caprice Robbery: Ambrose Dery, IGP Visit Shot Officer
The Minister for Interior, Ambrose Dery and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), George Akufo Dampare have paid a visit to the police officer who got shot by some suspects in the Caprice robbery incident.
Their visit to the injured officer at the hospital took place on Monday, December 12, 2022.
“The visit was to assess the condition of the officer and also wish him well”, the service said in a Facebook post.
The officer got shot in his right thigh on Friday during a raid by the police at the hideout of three suspects in an armed robbery incident- that took place at Caprice in Accra. The three suspects who were among a gang shot their female victim during the attack.
Two of them died during the raid whereas one got arrested.
Accompanying the Minister and the IGP to the hospital were Commissioner of Police (COP) Nathan Kofi Boakye, COP/George Mensah, COP/Paul Manly Awini, COP/Habiba Twumasi-Sarpong and some other senior officers.
Images from the visit showed the officer- face blurred- on a hospital bed with a bandaged right leg and surrounded by some medical officers from the hospital and the visitors.
“The Hon Minister took the opportunity to thank the Police for their invaluable services to the country and assured them of his Ministry’s commitment to support the Police in the fight against crime”, a part of the statement said.
