Be Measured In Water Utilisation- GWCL Tells Accra Residents

The Ghana Water Company Limited (GCWL) has cautioned residents in Western Accra to be moderate in their use of water as erratic water flow in the area looms.

In a statement, the company urged areas such as Gbawe, McCarthy Hill and Anyaa to brace themselves for low pressures in the flow to their properties and erratic flow in other areas.

It, however, noted that the flow in the earmarked areas will be uneven as essential service providers such as hospitals and schools will be prioritized.

It highlighted that “faulty equipment, increased demand, routine maintenance works and some unforeseen circumstances” account for the situation.

“The area affected is the entire Western Accra, including communities like Gbawe, McCarthy Hill, Anyaa, Lapaz, Darkuman which have been badly affected due to their elevated location,” a part of the press statement noted.

It thus urged the residents to be measured in the utilization of water as they address the low-pressure flow.

“Management will appreciate it if residents will be mindful of their water consumption during this period while being encouraged to conserve and use the water wisely to mitigate the impact.”

It added, “Management wishes to assure our cherished customers that, our team of engineers are working assiduously to resolve the situation and restore supply as early as practicable…Management of the GWCL deeply regrets the inconvenience caused and appreciates the understanding and cooperation of the public, while we plead with consumers to bear with the situation.”
