Ayorkor Botchwey, Others Called To The Bar

The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey and other notables on the political fronts have received calls to the Bar.

They were decorated with the honour on Friday, October 20, 2023, alongside other successful law students.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs congratulated their boss on social media.


“Congratulations to Hon. Minister on being called to the Bar!”

In a personal post on X, she announced her new title to the world and expressed her gratitude to God.

“Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey Esq. Grateful and thankful”

Another political figure called to the Bar is Sammi Awuku, the Director-General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA).


In a message on Facebook, he shared the “daunting” journey to becoming a lawyer.

“Years of long hours of lectures, sleepless nights, engaging in unending group discussions and reading volumes of books have finally paid off in birthing an added career path for us. I am immensely grateful to my lecturers, seniors, colleagues, and family, who played a significant role in attaining this success.”

He also congratulated his fellow party man and woman who went down the same journey.

The Member of Parliament for Tafo Constituency, Ekow Vincent Asafuah, also received a call.


He has received congratulatory messages both from his colleague from the School of Law, Sammi Awuku and the National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye.

In a Facebook post, Nana B, as he is affectionately called, welcomed Sammi and Vincent to the Bar.

“My brothers… welcome to the law profession… you have joined the League of learned colleagues. Congrats”
