Asantehene Condoles With Ga State Over Queen Mother’s Death
The King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has extended his condolences to Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II and the entire people of the Ga state over the death of paramount Queen Mother Naa Dedei Omaedru III.
The queen mother died in December 2022 after reigning 59 years at age 88.
Otumfuo condoled with the bereaved state during a courtesy call by a delegation from Ga Mantse who officially informed him about her death and preparations towards the final funeral rites and burial of the queen mother.
According to the delegation, the signing of the Book of Condolences will end at the beginning of October to make way for the funeral and burial rites from 15 October to 30 October.
It is during this period mourners will be received, they told His Majesty.
“Do extend my greetings to him (Ga Mantse). I condole with him and the whole of the Ga State. She (Naa Dedei Omaedru III) reigned for a very long time and her leadership in unifying all and more testifies she was indeed a mother,” Otumfuo reacted to the invitation.
His Majesty indicated that the loss was not particular to the Ga State but the whole of Ghana.
“This is not a bereavement of just the Ga state but all Ghanaians. We will do everything in our power to give her a befitting burial.”
