Allow Board To Decide Africa Participation- Kotoko NCC
National Circles Council 1st Vice Chairman, Nana Kwame Dankwah says the decision for Asante Kotoko SC to play in Africa or not is within the powers of the 12-member Board of Directors.
According to the Supporters’ Chief, the NCC is ready to support every decision of the Board and his outfit will not dictate for the Board.
Asante Kotoko Board is yet to officially come out to state whether the Club will compete in next season’s CAF Champions League competition after the cancellation of the League.
However, some Kotoko faithfuls believe that the current squad is not yet cut for Africa and want the Board to decline the opportunity to compete since it will be waste of resources.
Ghana Football Association (GFA) selected Asante Kotoko and Ashanti Gold as Ghana’s representatives for next season’s CAF inter-club competitions following cancellation of this season’s league due to the novel COVID-19 pandemic outbreak.
Two Ashanti Clubs, Kotoko and AshGold have automatically secured their slots by the virtue of Normalization Committee’s competitions triumphs.
Asante Kotoko will compete in the Champions League while the Miners feature in the Confederation Cup.
The FA explained that choosing both teams was “in accordance with the relevant provisions of the CAF inter-club football Regulations”.
Speaking on Opemsuo 104.7 FM evening sports show, Pramaso, Nana Kwame Dankwah disclosed that,”The Board has the sole right to decide whether we will accept the challenge to play in next season’s CAF Champions League competition or not, since they’ve a clear picture of the Club’s current situation.”
“The NCC is going to support every idea of the Board when they come out officially. We have absolute confidence in them.”
Kotoko’s campaign in the Champions League in 2019-20 ended disappointingly as they suffered a first-round elimination at the hands of Tunisian giants Étoile Du Sahel.
