A/R: Over 100 Sex Workers Arrested- Amoakohene

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, has announced the arrest of over 100 sex workers within the region.

He said they were picked up from selected streets across the region.

According to him, most of these suspects were found to be Nigerians following a screening and are being processed for deportation.

He said the arrest comes a few months after the deportation of 25 sex workers.

“In April we deported 25 of them, and we have made an arrest of over 100 others afterwards.”

The Minister made these remarks when he appeared before Nananom on June 11, 2026, at the invitation of Nana Boakye Yam Ababio, Nkwantakesehene, who is currently in charge of Kumasi in the absence of the Asantehene.

Together with the Kumasi Mayor, Richard Agyemang Boadi, they briefed the Kumasi Traditional Council on progress on the Sewua and Afari hospitals as well as the sanitary condition of Kumasi.
