MoE: Gov’t Looking For Remedy To Grievances Of CENTSAG

The Ministry of Education (MoE) has disclosed the government is seeking a long-standing solution to the grievances of the Colleges of Education Non-Teaching Staff Association of Ghana (CENTSAG).

In an interview on Eyewitness News monitored by opemsuo.com, Public Relations Officer for the Ministry noted that there has been some growth in the government’s commitment.

“We in the Ministry of Education do admit that these are issues that we have been having conversations on or engaging upon and then none of the issues is in contention”, he said.

He described as valid and legitimate, the concerns of the association.

Kwesi Kwarteng explained that the issues emanated after Colleges were migrated from the pre-tertiary status, under the Ghana Education Service to tertiary status, under the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).

The Ministry added that it was ready to find a lasting solution to the issues and noted that the National Labour Commission (NLC) is formulating a meeting this week to mediate between the employer and the employee.

Reacting to this, the National Secretary for CENTSAG, Samuel Opoku said the news is refreshing.

The CENTSAG began their indefinite strike action on Monday, April 11, 2022, raising concerns about the wrong placement of First Degree Holders, Non-payment of migration arrears, exclusion of payment of Generic allowances, partial payment of office Holding allowances, and non-payment of Interim Market Premium arrears.
