Parts Of Osu, Cantonments Close For Marathon
The Ghana Police Service has communicated the closure of parts of Accra for the 2023 Millennium Marathon.
The closure will affect designated routes in Osu and Cantonments. This means commuters will have to use alternative routes within the space.
The marathon will take place on Saturday, September 2, 2023, and the public has been urged to take note.
“As part of security arrangements for the 2023 Millennium Marathon in Accra, the general public, especially residents, commuters and the motoring public within Osu and Cantonments areas are being urged to take note of the following traffic arrangements,” a statement from the police said.
The road closure will spring from 6:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
“There will be temporary road closures along the routes designated for the race within the Osu and Cantonments areas on Saturday, 2nd September 2023, from 6:00 am to 10:30 am.”
The Service has assured there will be requisite security in these areas.
“We would also like to indicate that Police officers will be detailed along these routes and at other vantage points to assist the public during the entire period. We apologise to the public for any inconvenience caused by these arrangements.”
