NPA CEO Assures Tanker Drivers of Improved Working Conditions

The Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Godwin Kudzo Tameklo, Esq., has assured the Ghana National Petroleum Tankers Drivers Union (GNPTDU) of his commitment to resolving their working conditions and welfare concerns.

He gave the assurance during an emergency meeting with members of the Union on Tuesday, September 30, 2026.

The meeting followed a series of strike actions by the Union, which have now been suspended, over the deplorable state of the Tema Oil Refinery-Kpone road and the deteriorating condition of the BOST yard where they park their trucks, among other issues.

Issues raised during the meeting included concerns about the TOR road, oil loss control, and allowances for drivers who drive long hours on rough roads.

Addressing their concerns, Mr Tameklo said the Authority would do its best to get to the bottom of the issues raised and find solutions to them.

On his part, the National Chairman of the GNPTDU, Mr George Nyaunu, apologised on behalf of the union for not notifying the NPA of their strike action ahead of time and thanked the NPA boss for accepting their offer for a meeting and listening to their concerns.
