GoldBod Generates $1.871 Billion in Forex in September 2026

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) generated US$1.871 billion in foreign exchange from its Artisanal Small-Scale Mining (ASM) gold trade operations in September 2026, exceeding its monthly target of US$1.4 billion.

In an announcement issued on September 30, 2026, the Finance and Trading Directorate of GoldBod said the feat was achieved in accordance with its mandate under section 2(b) of Act 1140.

According to the Board, of the total amount generated, US$701.3 million was sold to authorised commercial banks against a set target of US$700 million to support FX market stability, while US$1.170 billion was provided to the Bank of Ghana against a target of US$700 million to support reserve accumulation.

Looking ahead, GoldBod projects to generate US$1.5 billion in foreign exchange in October 2026. Of this amount, US$1 billion will be made available to commercial banks to support FX market stability, while up to US$500 million will be provided to the Bank of Ghana to support the building of reserves in line with the Ghana Accelerated National Reserves Accumulation Programme (GANRAP).

The Board said this will be done in accordance with its newly developed Spot FX Sales/Intermediation Framework to strengthen transparency, fairness and regulatory compliance.

“GoldBod remains committed to its statutory mandate to generate foreign exchange for Ghana and will continue to work closely with all stakeholders,” the statement said.
