GRA, IMF Africa West 2 To Deepen Cooperation On Revenue Reforms

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and the IMF Africa West 2 Regional Centre have reaffirmed their commitment to deepen technical cooperation to strengthen revenue administration, customs modernisation and institutional transformation.

The commitment was made during a high-level meeting held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at the World Bank Office in Accra.

The meeting focused on strengthening digitalisation, intelligence-led compliance, customs modernisation and targeted technical assistance aligned with GRA’s strategic priorities.

The Commissioner-General of GRA, Mr Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, emphasised the importance of organisational transformation, international benchmarking and demand-driven technical assistance in supporting the Authority’s evolving operational needs.

He also highlighted digitalisation, standardised procedures, intelligence-led enforcement and improved border management as key areas for strengthening efficiency, transparency, consistency and accountability across the Authority.

The discussions also considered the role of GRA’s Transformation Office in coordinating and driving institutional change, with both institutions agreeing on the need for sustained collaboration and a structured approach to future reforms.

Both institutions reaffirmed their shared commitment to supporting a modern, efficient and responsive revenue administration system through targeted technical assistance, international best practices and continuous institutional reform.
