Prospectus Items Still Bought From Open Market – GES

The Ghana Education Service (GES) says prospectus items for Senior High and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) students are still procured in the open market and that the long-standing practice remains unchanged.

GES gave the clarification after disowning a viral notice directing all incoming SHS/TVET boarding students to pay and present receipts at their schools for the collection of EduPack items.

The notice, which is circulating on social media with the GES logo and marked “Supported by Ghana Education Service (GES)”, instructed parents and students to pay for an EduPack set comprising a mattress, pillow, plastic chop box, and trunk or suitcase.

In response to the publication, GES has described the notice as fake.

The Service said it has not sanctioned, asked or directed parents and students to pay money or purchase items from any specific place or person.

According to GES, prospectus items are procured in the open market and that long-standing practice remains unchanged.

The fake notice, which has now been stamped “FAKE” by GES, listed items such as Metal Trunk/Suitcase, Plastic Chop Box, Macintosh Mattress and Macintosh Pillow, and advised students not to bring those items to school.

It also directed payments through a USSD code, ADB branches and a website, edupackgh.com, branded as “EduPack Powered by PGL”.

GES, therefore, urged parents, students and the public to disregard the notice and only follow official communication from the Service and respective schools.
