C/R: Gender Minister Intervenes in Alleged Sexual Abuse of Six-Year-Old

The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has intervened in a reported sexual abuse case involving a six-year-old girl at Denkyira Kwaboso in the Central Region.

The Minister, upon becoming aware of the situation following a media report, stepped in to ensure the safety and well-being of the child and her mother.

Hon. Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey is leading engagements with relevant authorities to follow up on the case and ensure proper investigation and appropriate legal action.

The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection condemns all forms of harm against children, stating that any person who abuses or causes harm to a child must be held accountable through the appropriate legal processes.

Members of the public are encouraged to report such cases to the Ministry’s Helpline of Hope Call Centre and the Orange Support Centre on its toll-free numbers 0800-800-800 / 0800-900-900 / 0800-111-222.

The Ministry says it is closely following up on other reported cases involving children across the country and will continue to work with relevant authorities to ensure that such cases receive the necessary attention.
