WAEC Releases Provisional Results For 2025 BECE

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has released the provisional results for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
In a statement, the Council said the results of school candidates had been dispatched to their respective schools through the Metropolitan/Municipal/District Directors of Education.
It can also be accessed on the Council’s official website at www.waecgh.org.
Exam Malpractices
According to WAEC, the subject results of 718 candidates have been cancelled while the entire results of 177 candidates have also been cancelled.
It has further withheld the subject Results of 1,240 candidates and the results of 93 candidates.
It added, “The subject results of some candidates from 119 schools have been cancelled. In addition, the subject results of some candidates from 87 schools have been withheld for further scrutiny.”
These followed the completion of investigations into a number of cases of irregularity detected during the conduct of the examination and marking of scripts.
WAEC in its statement noted that the withheld results may be cancelled or released based on the outcome of investigations by September 6, 2025.
It however directed candidates whose results have been cancelled or withheld should visit
cgh.org. or click on the withheld/cancelled button on the home page
“They will be redirected to the irregularity and investigations page. This page will display reasons for withholding or cancelling the results. For withheld results, the candidates will receive information on the next line of action. Heads of school and proprietors may follow the same procedure using their results listing logins to know the status of withheld results of their candidates.”

It said 603,328 candidates, comprising 297,250 males and 306,078 females from 20,395 participating schools entered for the school examination.
This included 72 candidates with visual impairment, 239 with hearing impairment candidates with other test accommodation needs.
The examination was conducted at 2,237 centres across the country. Out of the total number, 2,526 candidates were absent.
