You Embody Peace In Our Time- Chieftaincy Minister to Otumfuo
The Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Stephen Asamoah Boateng, has acknowledged the contribution of the Occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II towards peacebuilding in the country.
If peace were a human, he indicated, the King is him
Hon Asamoah Boateng was speaking at the “Ahoho Da” Durbar, one of the activities slated to mark the 25th Enstoolment Anniversary of Otumfuo, at the Manhyia Palace.
“We are thankful for your continued contribution to peace in this country, just as we are for your several interventions in the past. When successive administrations struggled with the 16-year-old Dagbon chieftaincy conflict, you intervened and we enjoy the fruits till today.”
He continued, “Peace has always been a core value in our tradition, and you have come to embody it in our times. We are in the presence of a man who has been a symbol of peace amidst successive government and political transitions. His advocacy for arbitration instead of litigation has been the backbone to the sustained peace we enjoy as a nation.”
He noted that the current government will continue to work hand-in-hand with him in resolving other pressing chieftaincy conflicts in the country, including the Bawku dispute.
“As we have done in the past, this Government will continue to work with you to bring lasting peaceful solutions in conflict areas including the Bawku situation which is currently before Your Majesty.”
