Women Dominate Ghana’s Population – GSS
The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) has noted that preliminary results from the 2021 Population and Housing Census show that 50.7% which constitutes 15,610,149 of the total 30,792,608 population is female.
Prof. Samuel Kobina Annim, Government Statistician however noted that the result varied across regions given that 6 regions had men dominating.
In all the population of Ghana has grown by 6.1% compared to the 2010 housing and population census.
The provisional result also showed that the Greater Accra region is the most populous region in Ghana with a population of 5.4million equal to that of the Ashanti Region while the Ahafo Region has the least population of 0.6 million.
Ghana has a total of 9,837,153 million structures with 5.6 million used for residential purposes, 4.0 million for non-residential purposes, and 0.3 million for both residential and non-residential purposes.
The Government Statistician said the final result will be made public on November 18, 2021.
