We’ll Resist Attempts to “Tamper” With Parliamentary Results- NPP

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) says it has resolved to resist attempts by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to “tamper” with the Parliamentary Results.

At least 13 seats are under contention with both parties claiming victory following Saturday’s polls.

At a press conference on December 8, the General secretary of the governing party, Justin Kodua expressed concern about the development and condemned the alleged violent path the NDC had taken to claim victory.

“The NPP has with great concern taken notice of the violent conduct of some NDC thugs at some of the constituency collation centres.”

“Indeed, data that made our flagbearer concede this morning shows clearly that the NPP has won the constituencies I have mentioned but the NDC knowing very well that they have lost to the NPP, are unwilling to accept their fate and are desperately seeking to compel EC to do their bidding. We vehemently condemn these attacks and are serving notice that we shall resist every attempt to tamper with the results of the Parliamentary elections in these constituencies.”

He called on the Inspector General of Police, Dr George Akufo Dampare to intervene to maintain law and order.

“Mr IGP, we believe you have seen what is going and as a political party, we are calling on you to maintain law and order at the various collation centres. You must ensure that the lives and safety of all our citizens are protected. We must not allow illegal looting and intimidation of our citizens.”

The General Secretary also urged the leadership of the NDC to talk their supporters out of violence.

“I call on the leadership of the NDC to call its supporters to order and condemn these unnecessary acts of violence.”

The Constituencies under contention include Damongo, Ablekuma North, Techiman South, Aowin, Obuasi East, Nsawam Adoagyir, Fantiakwa North, Ahafo Ano North, Ahafo Ano South-west, Akwatia, Obuasi East and Tema Central.”
