Voter’s Register Exhibition Ends Today
The Electoral Commission of Ghana will today, November 7, 2023, draw the curtain on the provisional voter’s register exhibition exercise.
The exercise was in force for five days beginning on Friday, October 3, 2023 and preceding the December 19 District-Level election.
The exercise which generally saw low turnout was conducted at the 38,622 polling stations across the country.
After 6 p.m. today, the exercise ends.
It enabled prospective voters to verify details including name, age and gender and input the necessary rectification plus kept them abreast with their polling station centres.
The exercise followed the conclusion of the limited registration exercise and the replacement of lost cards some weeks ago.
A day to the commencement of the exhibition, a member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor, accused the EC of flouting Regulation 22(2) of Constitutional Instrument (CI) 91 as amended by CI 126.
The Member of Parliament for South Dayi Constituency said none of the 27 political parties in the country had been passed a copy of the provisional register and therefore accused the EC of being “lawless” but the EC never addressed the concern.
The Commission will hold District Level Elections on December 19, 2023, in 6,272 electoral areas in 259 out of a total of 261 districts in the country.
District-level elections are held every four years.
