Vaccination Of Pregnant Women, Administration Of Boosters Announced
The Minister for Health, Kwaku Agyeman Manu, has announced pregnant women can now take COVID-19 vaccines whereas the booster shots administration takes effect.
“We have reviewed and updated vaccination strategy to include pregnant women and booster doses”, he said at a presser.
He emphasised that Moderna and Pfizer BioNTech vaccines are the only approved vaccines to be used on pregnant women.
From the onset of COVID-19 vaccination in Ghana, pregnant and lactating mothers were excluded from the exercise.
Meanwhile, the sector minister noted that booster shots will be administered on healthcare workers, persons with underlying medical conditions, persons 60 years and above, front-line security personnel, and members of the executive judiciary and legislature.
The boosters will be administered three to six months after a person has been double vaxxed.
