UPSA Indecent Dressing: Management Condemns Viral Mistreatment of Student By Staff

The Management of the University of Professional Studies, Accra, (UPSA) has condemned and apologized to a first-year female student captured in a viral video being mistreated over her choice of outfit.
The condemnation followed an investigation into the incident.
It noted that the said staff is a member of the university’s Dress Code Compliance Team.
“Having now confirmed the circumstances leading to the incident, the University wishes to emphasise unequivocally that the behaviour of the staff was unacceptable and condemns it outright.
“As a professional university whose core values are integrity, respect, and service, UPSA holds the dignity and well-being of every student as paramount and reaffirms that no staff member has the right to mistreat any student under any circumstances.”
It added that unreserved verbal and written apologies have been issued to the said student with the victim acknowledging her fault in a response letter.
“The Vice-Chancellor has personally apologized to the affected student, emphasizing the University’s dedication to promoting a respectful and professional campus environment.
“The officer involved in the incident has also submitted a written apology to the student, acknowledging the inappropriate behaviour. In response, the student has also written a letter to the University Management expressing regret for her conduct.”
The University came into the spotlight at the beginning of July after undertaking a clampdown on indecent dressing on campus. A task force to enforce the decision prevented students in slippers and indecently dressed from entering lecture halls.
