Unity Cup: Injury Sidelines Kudus, Nuamah, Semenyo, Others

Over 12 regular Black Stars players will be missing at the forefront of the upcoming Unity Cup in London.
While some are sidelined by injuries, others were not released to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) by their various clubs.
According to a statement by the FA, Jerome Opoku, Kingsley Schindler, and Alexander Djiku who play for the Turkish league were not released as the league hasn’t yet ended.
Jonas Adjetey has a Swiss Cup final on June 1 with FC Basel while Joseph Paintsil and Osman Bukari are playing in the ongoing Major League Soccer of the USA, the FA explained.
Ghanaian players who have sustained injuries include Abdul Manaf Nurudeen, Abdul Mumin, Tariq Lamptey, Alidu Seidu, Ernest Nuamah, Daniel Kofi Kyereh, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku and Iñaki Williams.
Mohammed Kudus, Antoine Semenyo, Elisha Owusu and Ransford Yeboah Königsdorfer are said to be with minor injuries.
Meanwhile, Thomas Partey and Michael Baidoo have been given a break by head coach Otto Addo.
Twenty-three players have been handed call-ups by Addo. Among them are five debutants and four home-based players.
The squad saw Afena Gyan and Abdul Samed Salis returning to the team after close to two years’ absence and recovery from an injury for half a season respectively.
