Thieves break into Kejetia stores; made away valuable goods and cash under heavy security

Kumasi City Market

Reports are that thieves have broken into a number of stores at the newly constructed Kumasi City Market (KCM) and made away valuable goods and some amount of cash belonging to the traders under a full surveillance of security personnel, Opemsuo.com reports.
According to victims who confirmed the incident on Manhyia-based Opemsuo FM morning show hosted by George Opoku Mensah Agudey, criminals have been tormenting them for sometimes now despite heavy security presence at the facility all time.
“It is beyond our understanding within a week, thieves can enter into this market and make away of our goods and cash while we have all these security personnel paid to protect our properties”, some affected traders bemoaned calling on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) as a matter of urgency to investigate the matter.
According to the traders, the development is weird as management of the facility appears to have turned blind eye on the matter.
“My brother, because we generate revenue people think we keep physical cash here which is far from it, we know how dangerous it is to keep money in our offices,” they added.
The Chairman of the Kejetia Petty Traders Association, Kwabena Obeng said the incident had been reported to the police who had intensified their investigations to get the culprits to book.
“We have reported the matter to police but no arrest has been made so far”, Chairman of the traders Association Kwabena Obeng said
