The Timing Of The Ban Changed Our Game Plan- Johnson Smith Laments
Assistant coach of Asante Kotoko, Johnson Smith has expressed his dissatisfaction about the timing of the ban of head coach Mariano Barreto and high-flying winger Emmanuel Gyamfi by the Ghana Football Association.
According to the experienced gaffer, the timing affected their strategy and plan for the game.
The Ghana Football Association served the Ghanaian giants with the decisions of the Disciplinary Committee banning two key people in their team with some hours to Kotoko’s FA Cup round of 16 match against Asokwa Deportivo.
And reacting to the timing of the release of the ban, Johnson Smith expressed his displeasure and admonished the football governing body to come out with such decisions a day or two before a competitive game.
“The timing of the release of the ban is bad and affected our game plan. This is inappropriate and the GFA must check that. At least a day or two can help the team to restrategise,” said Johnson Smith after Kotoko beat Asokwa Deportivo 2-1.
“How can you release a communique of a ban with some hours to a game when we had already planned,” he quizzed.
Ghana Football Association’s Disciplinary Committee yesterday released their decisions against Kotoko coach, Mariano Barreto and winger, Emmanuel Gyamfi.
Winger, Emmanuel Gyamfi, was handed one match ban & a fine of ¢1,000.
While head coach Mariano Barreto was also handed two matches ban & a fine of ¢3,000.
