DOVVSU Rescues Nigerian Teen Trafficked to Ghana for Sexual Exploitation

The Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVSU) in the Western Region has rescued a Nigerian teenager trafficked to Ghana, allegedly for sexual exploitation.
According to the police investigation, one Golden Blessing lured the victim from Enuguto, Lagos, under the pretext of offering her a cleaning job, but handed her to one Joy Ogbonna, who transported her to Tarkwa.
Upon arrival, the suspect confined the victim in a room and forced her into commercial sex work.
“Through the intervention of a helpful passerby, the victim was able to contact her father, leading to her rescue.”
The police arrested 25-year-old Joy at Aboso near Tarkwa on November 3, 2025, following a report by the victim’s father, who said his daughter went missing in October 2025 in Nigeria.
The suspect is currently in police custody and will be arraigned before the court soon, while efforts are ongoing to arrest her accomplice, Golden, who is believed to be in Nigeria.
The victim has since taken seed with medical reports confirming she is five weeks pregnant.
