Eswatini King to Reciprocate Asantehene’s 2015 Visit

The Head of State and King of the Kingdom of Eswatini, His Majesty Mswati III, is scheduled to journey to Ghana on a historic visit to the King of the Asante Kingdom, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The Manhyia Palace will be hosting the eminent guest from June 24 to June 28.

The welcoming program features a durbar and a banquet.

This will reciprocate the Occupant of the Golden Stool’s visit to the Southern African country in 2015.

It would be recalled that the Prime Minister of the country, H.E. Russell Mmiso Dlamini, during a durbar at the Manhyia Palace to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Return of Otumfuo Agyemang Prempeh I, the 13th Asantehene, from exile in Seychelles last year gave a hint about this visit.

He said King Mswati III holds fond memories of the Asantehene ten years on.

“During the visit, the two monarchs resolved to strengthen the relationship between their two kingdoms and countries. They then agreed to reciprocate visits; however, Ghana has up to date not received King Mswati III. It is His Majesty’s wish to reciprocate the visit in the near future.”

Highlighting the significance of the visit, he said, it was a foundation upon which Ghana and Eswatini, built upon their diplomatic relations.

Speaking on behalf of the Asantehene at the event, Nana Otuo Siriboe II, Juabenhene announced the Asante Kingdom’s preparedness to welcome His Majesty Mswati III in its abode.

“We are looking forward to the visit of the King.”
