The event proudly hosted by the Royal Golf Club and sponsored by Stanbic Bank Ghana took place on August 31, 2024 in Kumasi at the Royal Golf Club Course.
The tournament, a “flagship” and “signature” programme for the Bank, honours the King of the Asante Kingdom annually for his sterling and unmatched leadership which has propelled development in various sectors of Ghana, particularly in the business sector.
The majestic ceremony formally opened the one-day tournament which has been in place for the past two decades.
Participating in the tournament are golfers from various golf clubs across the country, a team from Stanbic Bank and some clients of the Bank.
This year, the tournament celebrates His Majesty on the occasion of his Silver Jubilee on the Golden Stool and his 76th birthday, the Executive Head of Marketing for Stanbic, Mawuko M Afadzinu noted.
“This year is much bigger and better because it marks the 25 anniversary of Otumfuo in the Golden Stool. He has been ruling and it’s been an excellent journey. This is in appreciation of his powerful leadership. It also honours his 76th birthday.”
Additionally, the event is part of the banking institution’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
“In addition, it’s also a way of giving back to Asanteman, the golfing community and promoting a very healthy and disciplined sport in this country. This is why it is our signature event.”
Also speaking to Opemsuo Radio’s Mr Black on the sideline of the event was the Chief Executive of Stanbic Bank Ghana, Mr Kwamina Asomaning, who expressed his outfit’s honour of headlining the sponsorship.
“This is an invitation from His Highness for us to be part of this so as long as His Highness extends an invitation to us, we will gladly come and partner with the Royal Golf Club.”
