Sergio Busquets Leaves Barca
Barcelona captain Sergio Busquets has announced his departure from the Club of his life at the end of this season.
He leaves the Club after joining in 2005.
The 34-year-old made the announcement on social media on Wednesday, May 10 noting that the decision wasn’t an easy one to make but necessary.
He wrote, “The time has come to announce this will be my last season at Barcelona. It has been an unforgettable journey. Since I was a child coming to the matches or watching them on TV. I always dreamed of playing with this shirt in this stadium.
“And reality has exceeded my dreams. I wouldn’t have believed you if you’d told me when I arrived as a youth player that I would play 15 seasons at the best club in the world. The club of my life, of which I have been, am, and always be a fan, member, player, and captain. And surpass 700 matches.”
According to the midfielder, playing for Barca has been “an honour, a dream, a source of pride, and everything”.
At Barca, Sergio has scored 18 goals and created 40 assists.
With his help, Barca won 8 league titles, 7 Copas del Rey, 7 Spanish Super Cups, 3 Champions Leagues, 3 European Super Cups and 3 Club World Cups.
The Club described him as one of its best representatives.
He won for himself 31 medals at the Club.
Reports indicate that the Spaniard is heading to Saudi Arabia to continue his career but that was not confirmed in his statement.
