High Court Dismisses Ofori Atta’s Application to Strike Out OSP Arrest Warrant

The Criminal Division of the Accra High Court has dismissed an application by former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, seeking to strike out an arrest warrant issued against him by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
Mr Ofori-Atta had argued that the OSP unlawfully obtained the warrant and asked the court to set aside all related proceedings, including an Interpol Red Notice alert.
However, the court on July 31, 2025, ruled that the application lacked merit and dismissed it in its entirety.
On June 2, 2025, the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, announced the redeclaration of Ofori Atta as a fugitive of justice and triggered processes to have him extradited for investigation and prosecution.
It came after the former Finance Minister defaulted on their agreed timeline for his return to Ghana for investigations.
He is required to assist in investigations into five cases, including Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited & GRA Contract; ECG and Beijing Technology Limited Contract Termination; National Cathedral Project; Procurement of Ambulances; and GRA’s Tax Refund Account Payments.
The former government official is said to be in the United States of America, where he has undergone a scheduled robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy.
