Pre-WAFCON Prep: Ghana Suffers Heavy Defeat Against Nigeria

The Black Queens of Ghana have suffered a 3-1 defeat to Nigeria’s Super Falcons in their final pre-women’s Africa Cup of Nations friendly.
The game was held at Lanoura on Sunday as part of the team’s preparation towards the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) tournament.
The Super Falcons took the lead in the 34th minute through an own goal and doubled it with a spot kick 10 minutes later.
Six minutes into the second half, Nigeria found their third, extending their lead in the game.
After several squandered opportunities by the Black Queens Alice Kusi pulled one back from a spot kick in the 88th minute, making the final score 3-1.
Coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren’s side in their two preceding games won against Malawi and Benin.
The Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco is set to commence on July 5 and end on July 26, 2025.
Ghana is grouped with reigning champions South Africa, Mali, and Tanzania in Group C.

Midfielders: Nancy Amoah, Jennifer Cudjoe, Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah, Evelyn Badu, Grace Asantewaa, Jacqueline Owusu and Stella Nyamekye.
Forwards: Wasiima Mohammed, Sherifatu Sumaila, Doris Boaduwaa, Princess Dankwah Marfo, Alice Kusi and Princella Adubea.
