Police Vow To Bring “Violent” Arise Ghana Protesters To Book
The Ghana Police Service has vowed to bring “violent” Arise Ghana demonstrators to book following the protesters’ resistance to using an approved route by the Accra High Court.
The police service in a statement said after converging at the Obra Spots as agreed, organisers of the protest decided to use the route leading to the Jubilee House as against the court orders.
“Unfortunately and without any provocation, the demonstrators began pelting the police with stones”, injuring twelve police officers.
The police service also reports that the demonstrators resorted to burning tyres on the road.
By this, the police said they had no option but to use tear gas and water cannons to overpower the crowd.
Reports indicate that some of the demonstrators have been arrested by the police.
