Police Officer Who Killed Lover Reportedly Pleads Not Guilty

Ahmed Twumasi, the police inspector standing trial for murdering his lover has reportedly pleaded not guilty to the charge of murder levelled against him at the Asokore Mampong District Court in the Ashanti Region.

On his third appearance, the court took in his plea.

He reportedly pleaded not guilty despite reportedly confessing to the crime and calling it an unintentional act on his first day in court.

He was formally charged with murder on May 31 when he made his second appearance.

Inspector Twumasi allegedly shot 26-year-old Victoria Dapaah also known as Maa Adwoa- his reported lover- multiple times on 20th April 2023 at Adum in Kumasi.

The police officer was arrested on April 23 at Sekyere near Effiduase in the Ashanti Region through a special Police operation.

The suspect is reported to have shot the victim identified as his ex-girlfriend over failed attempts to get back with her, however, in court on April 25, the prosecution said he shot her because she failed to refund a GH¢5000 debt owed him.

Trial begins in July at the High Court.
