Police Intercept 104 Bags Of “Narcotics”, Arrest 4
The Ghana Police Service has intercepted 104 bags containing substances believed to be narcotics and arrested four persons including an Assemblyman for the crime.
According to the police the arrest was effected through an intelligence-led operation on January 5 this year.
The substances were intercepted at Lolonya near Sege in the Greater Accra Region, the police said in a statement.
The suspects were arrested while “discharging sacks of the compressed plant materials into a boat at the seaside at Sege”.
They are Ntow Prince, Felix Owusu, Jerry Quartey and Daitey Mashack (Assemblyman of the area).
“During the arrest, suspect Daitey Mashack who is the Assemblyman of the area attempted to bribe the arresting officers with an amount of Twenty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH₵ 20,000.00)”, a portion of the statement said. (mclaneedgers.com)
A truck containing the substances and the money are in police custody.
The suspects were arraigned before the Ashaiman Circuit Court on Friday, 6th January 2023, and have been remanded into Police custody to reappear on 23rd January 2023.
