Police Arrest Suspect for Unlawful Possession and Attempted Sale of Firearm in Accra

The Ghana Police Service, through its Special Support Unit to the IGP, has arrested a suspect in connection with the unlawful possession and attempted sale of a firearm in Accra.
Suspect Abdulai Ibrahim was apprehended on 29th December 2025 at Sodom and Gomorrah in Accra.
According to the Police “Suspect Abdulai Ibrahim, was arrested on 29th December 2025 at Sodom and Gomorrah in Accra after he arranged to meet prospective buyers to transact the sale of the weapon.”
Investigations revealed that Ibrahim presented a box containing a CZ rifle, which he offered for sale at GHC 35,000, and admitted to previously transporting several pump-action guns to individuals in the Northern Region.
The Police stated “The suspect presented a box containing a CZ rifle, which he offered for sale at a cost of GHC 35,000, and further admitted to having previously transported several pump-action guns to individuals in the Northern Region.”
Ibrahim also disclosed that the firearms were allegedly sourced from an arms dealer operating around UTC in Accra. Police have retrieved the weapon, which is now secured for further investigations.
The Police concluded, “The suspect is currently in police custody assisting investigations, as efforts continue to dismantle the network involved in the unlawful possession and distribution of firearms.”
