Over 20 Motor Riders Pardoned For Road Infractions

The Motor Traffic and Transport Department(MTTD) has pardoned more than twenty (20) arrested motor riders for engaging in various road infractions.

The MTTD team led by the Director-General/MTTD, DCOP/Mr Felix Fosu-Agyeman visited the Baatsona Divisional Police Headquarters, the La Nkwantanang – Madina Divisional Police Headquarters, and the Adenta – Abokobi Divisional Police Headquarters where the arrested riders were being held.

He noted that the Inspector-General of Police, George Akufo Dampare had directed his team to pardon the offenders who were first-timers.

This is part of the police administration’s Operation Police Action Against Rider Indiscipline(PAARI), an operation to clamp down on errant riders across the country.

Interacting with the arrested riders, DCOP Fosu-Agyeman said they won’t be pardoned for a second offence.

He passed the offenders through basic road regulations and encouraged them to obey the traffic light.

“Observe road traffic regulations. Before you step out, make sure your bikes are registered and have number plates appropriately fixed. You should be a licenced rider and have in place other valid documents. Pillion riders should not be more than one and he must also have a helmet. Exercise patience and ride professionally on the road”.
