Otumfuo Informed Of The Demise Of Mion Chief

The news of the demise of the Chief of Mion, Abdulai Mohamed has been officially announced to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The news was received by a delegation of chiefs on behalf of the Asantehene who is away on a private visit.

A Sub Chief from the Gbewa Palace, Mr. Shahadu Fuseini who led the Dagbon delegation informed that Abdulai Mohamed fell sick on August 16 this year and died on the same day.

According to him, their traditions and customs require early burial and for that matter was buried the day after his demise, August 17.

Chief Shahadu Fuseini disclosed that pending the final funeral rites of the late chief, August 26, 2022, has been set for the installation of a caretaker for Mion township and that the date for the observance of the final funeral rights will be communicated to HRM in due time.

Otumfuo’s Saamanhene who led the delegation of chiefs expressed and assured that, the news will be relayed to the King for further engagements.

The Dagbon delegation further apologized for the wrong timing for the delivery of the news and also expressed utmost gratitude for receiving them.

According to the Asante traditions and customs, Monday isn’t a day recognized for funeral acknowledgment.

The Dagbon delegation included a Sub Chief from the Gbewa Palace, Zohegaena Baba Abdulai Idrisu, Sub Chief from Mion, Alhaji Hassan Yisif, the Ashanti Regional Dagbomba Chief, Alhaji Fuseini Abu among others.

The late Chief of Mion, Abdulai Mohamed was the heir to Ya Na Abukari II, King of Dagbon.
