NPP Warns Regional Executives Against Unauthorised Directives To Parliamentary Aspirants
The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong has cautioned Regional Executives against issuing unsanctioned directives in the lead up to the conduct of parliamentary primaries in orphan constituencies.
In a statement, he said the National Executive body’s attention had been drawn to various directives to aspiring candidates on the conduct of the election.
Among these, it said was the fixing of dates for the election and the demand of fees.
He reminded the Regional Executives that these decisions and directives are reserved for the National Executive Committee (NEC) only.
“While the national executive body acknowledges and appreciates the otherwise good intentions behind these decisions, you are hereby reminded that directives governing the conduct of elections of the party can only be issued by the National Executive Committee, the appropriate body constitutionally mandated to do so,” a portion of the statement noted.
They have therefore been directed to cease these actions and refund monies collected.
“Accordingly, all Regional Executive Committees are, by this letter, directed to cease forthwith, the issuance of any directives on the conduct of parliamentary primaries unless and until same have been approved by the National Executive Committee in accordance with the Constitution of the Party,” they added
