NPP Bans Members From Publicising Internal Wranglings

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has issued a directive banning its members from publicising internal wranglings.

This is in response to some disclosures made by former Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Sara Adwoa Sarfo during an interview on Tuesday.

Spilling up the concerns that she had harboured for years, she said it had tarnished her hard-earned reputation and demeaned her in the sight of right-thinking Ghanaians.

Effect
The General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Kodua Frimpong in a statement issued on March 20 acknowledged the disappointment and emotional distress caused by their defeat in the election.

“Many of us, as party members, have on several platforms, expressed our anger, disappointment, and frustration.”

However, he recognises that the action is denigrating the image of the party and widening cracks within the party.

He has therefore pleaded for cooler heads to prevail.

Ban
Invoking his rights under Article 10(7)(5) of the NPP’s constitution, he banned discourse on frustrations.

“Please note that all Party members are hereby directed to immediately cease discussing Party issues that create unrest, negativism, and disaffection in the media and other related platforms.”

“Let us also be mindful of Article 3(5) of our Party’s Constitution, which, inter alia, enjoins us to promote and defend the good name of the Party,” he added.

He noted that the National, Regional, and Constituency Party leadership will henceforth respectively refer any member who violates this directive to the appropriate disciplinary committees of the Party.
