Nigerian “Robbers” Attack Ghana Wheelchair Tennis Team
The National Paralympics Committee, Ghana has announced three members of the Ghana Wheelchair Tennis Team have been injured in a robbery attack by some Nigerians suspected to be armed robbers.
The entire team was attacked during the wee hours of Tuesday, February 14, 2023, in the Nigerian State of Ogun.
In a tweet, the Committee confirmed, “three players got injured after armed robbers attacked. The incident happened at 2:30 am”.
There is scanty information surrounding the attack but the team had been in Nigeria to participate in the 2023 ITF World Team Cup Africa Qualifiers in Abuja, Nigeria.
The Qualifiers took place from 8th to 12th February.
Pictures shared by the Committee showed one injured in the face with another showing shattered glasses in one car seat.

According to the Committee, the President of the Nigeria Tennis Federation has contacted the Coordinator of the Ghana Wheelchair Tennis, Mr Henry Larbi to show his sympathy to the team and also render an apology.
Tennis stars Alistair Hunt and Anastasia Tobert have also reached out to Mr Larbi.
