NGIC Defaults on Licence Fee Payment- NCA

The National Communication Authority (NCA) has reported that Next-Gen Infraco (NGIC) has defaulted in its licence fee instalment payment.
The Schedule of Licence Fee Payments formed part of its licence conditions.
In a statement, it said the necessary action will be taken in accordance with the terms and conditions of the licence.
“The Authority is addressing this matter in accordance with the applicable licence conditions and statutory provisions.”
The NCA furthered that it remained committed to transparent, fair, and predictable regulation to ensure sustainable investment, competition, and growth in Ghana’s communications sector.
It comes a day after the company announced it had commenced offering 4G and 5G network services in selected cities, including Accra, Kumasi and Tamale, with clearance from the NCA.
Under this framework, the NGIC builds and operates the shared 4G/5G radio and core network infrastructure, and licensed Mobile Network Operators connect to the platform and provide retail services directly to consumers and businesses.
NGIC has installed forty-nine (49) 5G sites across the country, including Greater Accra Region (43 sites), Ashanti Region (2 sites), Western Region (1 site), Northern Region (1 site), Bono Region (1 site) and Central Region (1 site).
