NE/R: Two Arrested for Stealing GIS Officer’s Guns

Two suspects have been arrested after they stole firearms belonging to an officer of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS).

Identified as Mohammed Basit age 18 years and Baba Rasid, age 22, the two allegedly stole a Smith and Wessonssen Pistol loaded with ten rounds of ammunition and two CZ rifle magazines loaded with 30 rounds of ammunition each from his residence in Walewale.

This was on May 17 while the officer was out.

The suspects were arrested from their hideout at Kperiga by the police in Walewale through intelligence.

Meanwhile, the firearms were retrieved from a stationary vehicle.

“Investigations are ongoing and suspects will be put before court,” the police said in a statement issued on May 21.
