N/ER: Four Arrested For Killing a “Witch”
Four individuals are in the grips of the police after they allegedly killed a septuagenarian whom they accused of witchcraft in the North-East Region.
Noab Bilatukin, a resident of Sangbana village near Bunkpurugu, was lynched to death on July 10, a police report said.
The suspects fled the village after the act; however, four of them were busted at various hideouts at Bunkpurugu on July 14.
They have been identified as Suuk Jakwa, 67, Banyiwoo Ntookwib, 32, Moapya Kwayaja, 30 and Amos Nlaji, 29.
Others are said to be currently at large.
“The suspects are being interrogated and will be put before the court after investigation,” police said in their statement.
They further discouraged the public from accusing the aged of witchcraft and subjecting them to violent attacks, vowing to deal with perpetrators.
