Medeama Exit CAF League
The Medeama Sporting Club have had their journey in the CAF Champions League brought to an end after their defeat to Al Ahly last Friday.
Their uninspiring output in the league has rented them the button place in Group D after five games and despite having a last match, the Ghanaian side as well as CR Belouizdad are out of the league.
Meanwhile, Al Ahly and Young Africans have qualified for the next round of the competition. The undefeated Egyptians are leading Group D with nine points from two wins and three draws. They are keenly followed by Young Africans who hold eight points from two wins, two draws and one loss.
The Yellow and Mauves have four points from five games with one win, one draw and three losses.
Despite their 51% possession against the Egyptian side on Friday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, the reigning Ghana Premier League (GPL) Champions failed to capitalize on any of their chances created.
After a goalless draw in the first half, the deadlock was broken by Hussein El Shahat in the 48th minute. Medeama failed to equalize, resulting in their third defeat in the league.
Nebojsa Kapor’s side will take their last group match in the league away from home on March 1 against CR Belouizdad.
