Mc Abraham Speaks Out on Hypocrisy in the Gospel Music Industry

In an interview on Opemsuo Radio’s Oseikrom Kwanso with Mac De President, renowned gospel musician Mc Abraham raised concerns about a disconnect between the music of some gospel artistes and their personal lives.

“Some gospel musicians sing alright, but their lives, there is nothing Christian about it. But can’t ask them to stop singing.”

Mc Abraham emphasised that many of these artists don’t engage with the Bible, which he believes is crucial for creating genuine and meaningful gospel music.

“The reality is, a lot of people don’t take time to read the Bible,” he shared during an interview on Opemsuo Radio’s Oseikrom Kwanso with Mac De President. “I have a song that many musicians have reused in their own work, but when you ask them where in the Bible the lyrics come from, they have no idea. If I hadn’t read the Bible, I wouldn’t know either. There’s so much from Genesis to Revelation, so why repeat what another musician has already said?”

He went on to highlight the difference between gospel musicians of the past and those of today, suggesting that deeper biblical knowledge made earlier artists more grounded in their faith.

The gospel musician has also announced plans to launch a new talent show called Mc Abraham Sing Alike, aimed at mentoring up-and-coming gospel artists. Auditions will take place on 15th September 2024, at the House of Jacob Chapel in Krofrom, Kumasi.
