Manasseh Awuni Commends Dampare For Facelift At Police Headquarters
Investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni has commended Inspector-General of Police George Akufo Dapare for the renovation and facelifts given to parts of the police headquarters in Accra.
The renovated parts were commissioned on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The Headquarters Gate, the CID Gate, the ICT Gate and the main CID block are the parts of the police headquarters renovated.
Commissioning the project, President Akufo-Addo admitted the renovation creates a sense of orderliness and discipline in the minds of its patrons.
Many Ghanaians including Manasseh took to social media to commend the police service for the stride.
In a Facebook post, he said the Police headquarters used to have semblance with an “abandoned warehouse”.
“One major distinguishing feature between the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Armed Forces used to be the neatness of their premises. While the Ghana Armed Forces always keep their headquarters and other major installations neat, the headquarters of the Ghana Police Service used to be like an abandoned warehouse.”
He, however, added that the appointment of Dr Dampare has created a massive change in the narrative.
“When IGP Dr George Akuffo Dampare took over, that narrative started to change. I noticed the paving of the dusty car parks and the planting of grass and plants where they need to be. Then the buildings started to look like installations that uniformed men and women should enter with pride and self-confidence. If you drive on the Ring Road towards Osu, you will not fail to notice the beauty that greets you as you pass by the National Police Headquarters.”
He, therefore, commended the Police boss and the police administration for the facelift and urged them to extend it to the regional headquarters, divisions and districts.
He continued, “And while you are on the aesthetics, kindly pay serious attention to the character of your men and women. The beauty and new look of the police service should not only be seen in your surroundings. But as we look forward to more transformation, you deserve celebration for what you have achieved so far.”
