Mahama Nominates a Running Mate
The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has finally nominated a running mate for his race in the 2024 General Elections.
This was confirmed by the General Secretary of the party, Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey in a press statement on February 27, 2024.
The statement said their presidential candidate had formally communicated to them about the nomination.
“The National Democratic Congress has today, received a formal communication from the Presidential Candidate, His Excellency Joh Dramani Mahama regarding the nomination of his running mate in accordance with Article 45 of the NDC Constitution.”
In response to this, the party’s Council of Elders will convene a meeting this Thursday to deliberate on it with a subsequent National Executive Committee meeting, Mr Kwetey disclosed.
“The NDC is confident that the Running Mate will bring a wealth of experience, expertise, and dedication to our campaign. The selection will undoubtedly complement the vision of our esteemed leader, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, as we collectively strive to ‘Build the Ghana We Want together’.”
The former President was elected by his party as their Presidential candidate in May 2023.
During his unsuccessful bid in the 2020 general elections, Mr Mahama chose former Education Minister Prof Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang as his running mate.
