Lariba Abudu, Francisca Oteng Duly Sworn In

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has duly sworn in Lariba Abudu and Francisca Oteng as the Minister and Deputy Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) respectively.

The ceremony took place at Jubilee House on Wednesday.

Lariba is the Member of Parliament for the Walewale constituency in the North East region whereas Francisca is the MP for the Kwabre East constituency in the Ashanti region.

The two were appointed to the posts after the former Minister was dismissed in August this year.

Member of Parliament for the North Tongu Constituency, Samuel Okudzeto opposed Lariba’s appointment describing it as “inspiring”; however, the two got the approval of Parliament after they were vetted by the Appointments Committee on 15 December.

On December 28, they were sworn into office by President Akufo-Addo.

Congratulating them, President Akufo-Addo is quoted to have said, “this event fulfils the completion of the re-constitution of a new team at the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection”.

On her part, Lariba vowed to make the Ministry “enviable” together with her deputy.

Until her appointment, Lariba was deputy to Sarah Adwoa Sarfo
