Lands Minister: Government Is Taking Necessary Steps To Protect All State Lands
The minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor, has assured that, his ministry and the Lands Commission are undertaking an inventory of public lands, including those that have been encroached upon, to ensure maximum protection for all State lands.
He explained that section 236 of the Land Act, 2020 (Act 1036) enjoins the Lands Commission or any agency for whose benefit a land has been acquired to take the necessary steps to recover it if it has been encroached.
Hon Jinapor added that the Lands Commission is in collaboration with Ghana Police Service to provide protection for all public lands and prevent them from further encroachment.
The minister made these comments on Thursday, February 23, 2023 when he appeared in Parliament to answer questions filed by MP for Bole Bamboi, Yusif Sulemana on measures being put in place to protect state lands.
