Kwame Nut; The Up-And-Comer Who Wanted 4 Big Artistes On His Track But Failed

Kwame Nut, an upcoming Ghanaian artiste has recounted his adventure in trying to feature four Ghanaian music superstars in a remix to one of his songs.

He wanted artistes including Fameye, Kwame Eugene, Kwaku Flick and Y Pee on the remix of his track titled “Pressure” which was originally released in 2022.

In an interview with interim host for Kumasifie on Opemsuo radio, Francis Nkrumah popularly known as Riley Osei, the artiste said he ended up with only Kwaku Flick and Y Pee and explained why.

This was after he had received a question about the struggles in seeking collaborations from artistes already in the industry.

“I wanted to feature Fameye, Kwame Eugene, Kwaku Flick and Y Pee on the remix. When I contacted Kwaku Flick and Y Pee they were ready to hop onto it. I believe they did it out of kindness of heart. They didn’t take a penny from me,” the visibly grateful 29-year-old said.

Fameye on the other hand counseled him about the implication of hoarding all four of them on one track when he was contacted.

“Fameye was ready to join but he advised that after having all four of them on one track, it would be difficult to get them to feature on another song in the future. So I have no problem with Fameye.”

For Kwame Eugene, he said, he was never able to reach. It appears the “Angela” hitmaker snubbed him.

According to him, his decision to reach out to Kwame Eugene in the first place was because he chanced on a video of him jamming to his “Pressure”.

Kwame Nut believes Music is his Ministry. “We preach through music. I should have been in a tie in the church but God has directed me to a different path,” he told the host.

From Rap To Singing
His career as a musician began years back, he said, when he was known by the name Apantan (jaw) and as a rapper.

His decision to switch to singing began after he tried and realised people loved him as a singer rather than a rapper.

That wasn’t the only thing he had to divert from but his name too.

“At the time I was known as Apantan (jaw). I used the name for about five years before dropping it. I later changed it to Kwame Nut due to spiritual reasons.”

Elaborating further, he said, “A man of God by the name Prophet Patrick gave me Kwame Nut. I met this prophet whom I never knew before and he instantly discerned my profession and questioned my decision to use Apatan as my name. Later I met him and he advised that I used my soul name and NUT which means Naturally Untouchable Talent. It also stands for palm nut.”

His songs include “30 Years”, “Preacher Ahuofe”, “Up and Awake”, “Way Up”, “Akua Gifty” and many others.
